And I'm liking it :).
For starters we got a house!!!! I know. Totally out of the blue yet so exciting!
A few months ago the hubby and I had decided to start house searching. Not to buy just yet. More to see our options and workout a budget ect. We've always said we wanted to build a house to our liking though we weren't sure where to build. Come on, at 25 you don't really know for sure if you want to spend the rest of your life in a certain city. Or maybe you do. In our case we weren't sure. I like PA and would not mind staying in a near by city from our home town but I admit that I wouldn't want to live in our home town for forever. So our plan was to buy a house in the area, develop more our careers, save as much as we can, and make a decision on where to build.
Well things changed drastically very fast. Is a long story and nothing that you would find amusing so bottom line is that we were gifted a house. Yup, simple as that. Steven's mother owned two houses. She was renting one of them to her sister for like 10+ years and early this month her sister bailed on her without notice. She didn't want to deal with finding tenants or putting it on the market for sale so she gave it to her son, my husband.
It all works out for us too. The mortgage is super affordable. The house is not in bad shape at all. Just some painting, ok maybe a lot of painting, carpet removal, some windows replacement, and a few minor fixes. Not to mention the location is Awesome and the neighborhood is not bad whatsoever. My aunt actually lived next door to his aunt for a few years about a year ago so I know the area well. Plus this would allow us to put away a reasonable amount until we are ready to build and we won't feel like we wasted money buying an expensive home where we would stay in for 10 years tops. I've always said that in my 30s is when my life will truly begin so I wasn't expecting to build a house before 30 anyways and while still in school. Too much stress if you ask me.
There are some things we have to give up though since you know, we got the house for free. Sort of. Like we wanted a single home or at least a double and this one is a row home. The basement is not finished or not even started. The backyard is relatively small. Although big enough for rear parking and some grilling in the warmer months. Is not my favorite part of the house but is workable plus the front porch makes up for it. I always wanted a big porch and this house has one. :) Yayyyy!
My favorite things in the house are the kitchen. It is big! Lots of space and storage area. The front porch of course. The amount of closets throughout the house. The basement that although is not finished it has potential for it to be turned into something wonderful. And other little things.
I'm really excited about this. The end of 2011 turned into a living hell for me and by the looks of it 2012 seems to be wanting to make up for it and honestly I.am.not.complaining lol.
I get that home ownership is not the easiest road but I'm actually excited to grow, learn, and experience it all. We already started fixing the small things and I think we will begin painting next week. We plan to be moved in by the end of April or even middle of May. We have to see how much and how fast we can work before moving all of our stuff in the new house. I will be doing some post about the projects outcomes and posting some pictures but it probably won't be until late April or late May.
Welcome to yet another journey my married life is taking me on. I look forward to the adventures headed our way. Or should I?

WOW. WOW. WOW.
That's exactly what I said when I finished the book. Although I have to admit that the only reason I read this book was because of peer pressure. I kept hearing everyone raving about it and I gave in. Just like twilight. I like the girlie books, specially the romance ones. So these books have definitely expended my horizons.
This book was an attention grabber from the first chapter. I couldn't put it down. That explains why I read the whole thing in 2 1/2 day. It was just that good. Now I need to go watch the movie. I can't wait to see if it meets my expectations. So far I see that it is 2+ hours long so that's good. I think. Right? Not to mention that some people are saying is not good to take young kids to watch it because some scenes are just too violent. Which in my mind I'm thinking that's good as well because that just mean that they are really going by the book's descriptions. As I read it I tried to maintain a visual image of the scenes which wasn't hard at all. There was only one part I wasn't content with and that was the part where she fought that one girl, Clove, at the feast. I won't spoil it for others and maybe I just didn't visualized it as I should have so I'll have to wait to watch the movie to really judge it.
I'll most likely go watch it during the weekend and drag the hubby along. I'm sure he'll like all the action. If I don't become to desperate and go at noon tomorrow ;).
Either way I can't wait to read the second and third book and if you haven't read these books yet I say go for it. You have no idea what you are missing ;).

Yaayyy spring is almost near!!!! How exciting!
The last weekend in February I hosted a girls night at my place. I only invited a few friends because I honestly dislike hosting a party/get together and have 10% of the invitees show up. It drives me insane! Solution? Don't host anything. Simply as that.
I've been wanting to meet up with friends and catch up. And that day finally arrived. As well as another thing to add to my 101 in 1001 list before checking it off. #
I've always admires those groups of friends that know each other since like Pre K. Or those from high school that are still friends and even those from college. Because believe it or not the people you meet in college are the ones that seem to stay in your life longer.
I have 1 friend, Yessenia, since the 5th grade. We were bestest friends, inseparable you can say, then throughout the years we had some indifference and unfortunately we drifted apart. We are still friends but given that we stopped talking for about 2-3 years of our lives and at the time that was most crucial we missed out A LOT! in each others life so I have to admit that things will never be the same between us. Being aware of that we still try and maintain the friendship because no matter what happened in the past I value her friendship.
Then I have my girl friends from high school. Yadeline, Tatiana, Zoila, and Maret, among others but these are my closest ones. The ones I talk to on a regular basis and the ones that I pray stay in my life forever. I have a special history and bond with each and everyone of them. Best part is that they each have their own history together making our little circle so unique. Zoila I actually met two years ago and if you was to see us you wouldn't be able to tell. It looks like we've friends since the womb. She is definitely a ride and die friend :) I'm glad to have had the pleasure of having her be part of my life these last couple of years. Tatiana and Maret I met during cosmetology class in the 10th grade. Tati got married young and left to Germany with her husband. Thankfully she kept in touch and we grew so close that we even had our kids around the same time. Maret and I lost touch a few times but we always found each other and this time I'm not letting her get away. She's going to have to try very hard lol. Yadeline. My sweet Yade is my ROCK. God knew exactly what he was doing when he put her in my path. I will hold on tight to her. Friends like her are hard to find and I won the lottery with her :)
I also have my college friends. My most recent friends. These girls are awesome and I love the part of our lives that we are sharing with each other. This is a roller coaster experience that will never be forgotten. Jen, Mia, and Jessica. I can wait to see what the future holds for us.
The first six girls were the ones I invited to the girls night. Yade was unable to make it because that was 2 days before her due date (yes she is, or rather was, pregnant) and she lives about an hour away which made her hubby a bit uncomfortable being away from his very pregnant wife at this point in her pregnancy. Yesi was also unable to make it due to baby sitting issues. She has 3 kids so just imagine how hard it is finding care for all of them.
The other four were able to make it and boy did we have fun :) just like old times. Our talks were awesome and the food I made was a hit! I was running late a bit and I failed at the picture taking part because I wanted to treasure every minute with them. We will reunite next Friday to celebrate my birthday and I promise to get more and better pictures then. For right now my memory will have to do and the smile on my face thinking about these girls is priceless. I will def make an effort to see them more often not just talking on the phone and texting.

Conversation between my son and I at dinner time.
We are eating baked wings with tostones (fried plantains). He finishes first. I have 2 tostones left. Now there's one. I dip the last one in the mayo-ketchup sauce and I'm about to bite it.
My son: are you really going to eat that.
Me: yes.
My son: I thought you were going to give it to me.
Me: Nooo. Why would I do that?
My son: because I don't have anymore.
Me: Ok?! So?
He walks around the table and stands next to me.
My son: I know you want to give it to me. I can see it in your eyes.
Me: LOL. No I don't want to give it to you.
My son: yes you do. I'm a vampire I can see it in your eyes.
At this point I am cracking up and I cannot believe this kid has done it again. He always gets me. Whenever we eat together and he finishes first I cannot eat the last bite. I always give it to him. Don't ask me why because I don't know. I just do. But recently he has been saying "I know you want to give it to me. I can see it in your eyes". And it literally makes me LOL. Where the heck does this kid get these things from!?!?
I play around with him a bit pretending to eat it and I love watching his eyes staring at me with so much confident that no matter how long we argue about it he is Sure that I will give him the last bite. Grrr! I love that kid so much!!! lol.
That's the highlight of my day! :) I love being a mom!
On another note. This past weekend we went away for a couples weekend getaway (post coming soon) and my PinkPad app told me that "my flowers were blooming" meaning I was ovulating. I am secretly hoping this was our month and that by my 25th birthday I get the news of an addition to the family. I don't want to get too excited about it just in case but I'm being optimistic about it. Cross your fingers for me. :)
Happy Tuesday!!!

Pamela.
This past weekend the hubs came home with beautiful lilies for me. He left them in front of the TV so that when I wake up they were the first thing I saw. Of course that I didn't wake up before he came home. I woke up after he did so I didn't notice the lilies until my son said "did you like daddy's surprise?" and pointed at the lilies. I felt so bad that I didn't noticed it earlier :(
Fast forward to today. This morning I get home from work and see a piece of paper on the floor. I just picked it up and put it on the dresser thinking my son must had been "practicing" his writing skills. Ever since he discovered words and drawing that's the only things he'll do. Write and draw. Anyways, so I left the paper alone, got him dressed, and sent him to school. When I woke up I called the hubby and and he asked me if I had seen the note my son left me. I was a bit confused but after a little while I put two and two together. The paper I found on the floor was a note from my son to me. It must of have fallen overnight.
This is what the note said.
Translation according to my 5 years old: Pamela just because I love you too. I love my mom I love my puppy.
This made my day. He is sooo sweet. When he's dad got me the lilies he left a note that said "just because I love you". My son wanted to tell me that he loves me too and he also loves his puppy lol. This is definitely going on a frame in my room for ever! My first note from my baby boy :).
What a great way to start the month!
